Dyson vacuums are industry leaders when it comes design, portability, and performance. The company’s flagship product, the Dyson Cyclone Vacuum V10 cordless vacuum cleaner, has been redesigned. The Dyson V10 is a great example of the company’s rethinking their lauded cordless form factor, and refining their cyclone tech to achieve stronger suction.

Dyson’s V10 digital motor is to thank for this — it’s a true engineering feat capable of 125,000 revolutions per minute (that’s more than 2,000 revolutions in a second), up from the 108,000 on the V8.

How confident is Dyson about its V10 cordless vacuum? Dyson is so confident in the vacuum’s suction power that it has stopped all development of corded models.

This is a big decision when you think about how many corded models it still sells. At the top of the list are models such as the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball.

This new stick vacuum will not be cheap. You can get it in different versions depending on your location: The US and Australia receive the Deluxe Absolute+ version, which comes with an entire set of attachments, as well as a handy orange extension tube. This vacuum is priced at $699 ($999 AU).The Dyson Cyclone V10 will pick up any object you place in its path.

The UK’s deluxe version with six additional tools, which includes a red extension pipe and cyclones, is the Dyson Cyclone V10 total clean. This model costs PS 499.99.

The Animal mid-range model costs $599 (PS399 / AU$899). It has a purple extension tub and cyclones. The mid-range Absolute model in the UK is the Absolute. The Absolute comes with a tube of orange paint and four extra tools. This is priced at PS449.99.

The US has a Dyson Cyclone V10 Motorhead entry-level model that shares the V10’s red trims, but with fewer attachments. This model costs $499, the same as the Dyson V8.

Dyson V10 design

The Dyson Cyclone V10 is not only technologically advanced, but also features a variety of improvements that make perfect sense.

You’ll immediately notice that the various sections of this model are positioned differently than previous V-series models.

The V10, for example, features a barrel that is facing forward, and to which all accessories can now be connected directly.

The device’s expanded 14-chamber cyclone array is located behind the barrel, followed by a new V10 digital engine, the smallest and most intelligent motor the company has ever designed. The V10’s motor and cyclones are shown in detail

It’s claimed that the Dyson can even detect differences between a table and a floor. Dyson claims that it can tell the difference between a floor and a table.

It’s smaller and lighter than the V8 motor.

The V10 filter is located at the back of the unit. It can be removed with a simple twisting motion in the opposite direction, making it much easier to clean. The base of the V10 has an LED that will tell you when to wash the unit.

Dyson claims that its V10 filter can capture 99.97% allergens, even those as small as 0.3microns.View from above of the Dyson Cyclone V10+ Absolute

The V10 vacuum cleaner has a direct airflow path, which is more efficient than its predecessors.

The V10 has a larger bin than the V8, and a new ‘point-and-shoot’ mechanism for emptying it. This makes it much easier to move dust and waste directly into a garbage receptacle, or plastic bag.

One downside of having a front facing bin is that it will require you to remove all attachments every time you empty the device. However, you probably did this anyway and didn’t realize. The Dyson Cyclone V10 with its new inline design

The bin can be opened by pushing the red release valve located under the unit. This will slide the entire bin down and expel any contents. This plastic flap is a bit delicate and we hope it will hold up over time.

The bin’s flexible rubber lip prevents dust and debris from entering the bin. However, we have found that dirt can still be pushed out when the bin is emptied.

Dyson, following the trend started by the V8, has removed the attachment release buttons on the V10 and placed them directly on the accessories.

The V8 is incompatible with all previous accessories, but this makes it easier to remove vacuum heads and extensions tubes.

Dyson V10 Performance

The Dyson Cyclone V10 is a big sucker thanks to its 14-cyclone array and new digital motor. This is not meant in a bad way — it’s a great compliment to the vacuum industry.

We’ve tested V10 for a number of weeks and found that it performs remarkably well in almost every vacuuming scenario. There are only a few exceptions. The Absolute+ model that we tested came with attachments for all of these scenarios.

Direct Drive is the attachment that will be used the most. However, our favorite tool is the Soft Roller Cleaner Head. It is capable of picking larger debris such as pet kibbles, cat litter, and cereal.Crumbs Chief!

The Mini Motorized Tool is a great attachment for cleaning stairs and upholstery. Other useful attachments are the Rigid Crevice Tool with its pointed tip, which allows you to vacuum into crevices and corners, and the Flexi Crevice Tool which has an extendable hose. This attachment is great for vacuuming in tight spaces like inside of cars.

We did occasionally experience blockages with stick vacuums. This is something that seems to be unavoidable. The V10 would often jam up due to tissues or wrappers. This could only be solved by removing the obstruction immediately.Mini Motorized Tool in Action

Do you remember the extra power we mentioned earlier? The Dyson Cyclone V10 has the same power as any Dyson corded vacuum that the company has ever released.

The V10 has three power settings: low, medium and max. The amount of power you use will depend on what surface you are cleaning and the charge remaining in your unit (which can be seen by the LED indicator when you are using it).

The V10’s battery is much more dense than the predecessors. This means you can vacuum continuously up to 60 mins on the lowest setting. This setting was generally strong enough to remove any dirt that we placed in front of the vacuum. The Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal picks up an animal

The maximum power setting offers incredible suction. (We put our fingers to the vacuum head, and were surprised at how strong it was. We would not recommend trying this at your home.) Unfortunately, this setting will drain the battery completely after approximately five minutes of use.

We think that you will use the V10’s Medium Power setting most often, as it gives you 30 minutes of continuous use. The maximum setting is for smaller vacuuming sessions or when you need to remove really stubborn dirt from your carpets and rugs.

It takes 3.5 hours for a fully charged battery to be recharged with the new, improved battery.

Dyson Cyclone V10 final review verdict

The Dyson Cyclone V10, a remarkable piece of engineering and design, is so superior to other stick vacuums on the market that it makes them look like amateurs. This thing is a beast, despite the occasional blockage.

The V10 is likely to be too expensive for some potential buyers, as such technological advances come with a high price tag.

This is still the most advanced vacuum stick on the market. The Dyson Cyclone V10 is the cordless vacuum you need if you won’t accept anything less.
