It has been told in the report that now the figure of 5G smartphone users in China has reached 676 million. In such a situation, the country is planning to take better advantage of this technology.

According to MIIT, by the end of June, a total of 2.93 million 5G base stations had been deployed in China, bringing the number of 5G smartphone users to 676 million and the number of connected Internet of Things (IoT) devices to 2.12 billion. The report states that 5G has been implemented in 60 major economic categories in China and is expanding to many other sectors, including manufacturing, medicine, education and transportation.

Zhao further pointed out that the country is making efforts to accelerate 6G R&D, so as to lay a solid foundation for China to develop into a manufacturing and internet power, as well as contribute to the construction of Digital China.

China is working to enhance the quality of the 5G network as well as expanding 5G coverage in urban as well as rural areas, according to the report. In addition, efforts will also be made to promote the development of 5G redcaps to further reduce costs and increase application scale, according to Zhao.
