New Delhi. The country’s popular SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has delivered the first batch of Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUVs to the Indian Army. The company is making models of Scorpio Classic especially for the Indian Army, which are being handed over to the army in a phased manner. Significantly, Mahindra had received an order for 1,470 Scorpio Classic SUVs from the Indian Army in January.

The company has made special changes in all the classic SUVs for the use of the army. Let us tell you that these SUV cars will be better in many cases than the Scorpio SUV sold in the market for common customers. The Indian Army has started the process of deploying the Scorpio Classic SUV in its 12 units.

Will be equipped with many new capabilities
According to some reports, the Scorpio SUVs being received by the army are equipped with 4X4 drivetrain whereas in the market this SUV is being sold only in 4X2 drivetrain. Apart from this, the company is offering the old generation 2.2-litre diesel engine that generates 140 HP power. The weight of this SUV has been reduced by 55 kg.

According to Mahindra, this SUV can generate torque of 230 Nm at 1000 rpm. Apart from this, the company has also focused on increasing the mileage by 15 percent. The company has used cable-shift transmission in its gearbox, which is easy to shift along with reducing vibration.

The suspension setup of the Scorpio SUV being sold to the army has also been upgraded. In this, the company is using MTV-CL damper. This SUV is now equipped with some new features like cruise control, automatic climate control, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fabric seats.

Let us tell you that Mahindra has removed the option of 4X4 ​​drivetrain from the Scorpio SUV available for common customers. This SUV now comes only in rear wheel drive which is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. The diesel engine found in this SUV generates power of 130 bhp and torque of 300 Nm.
