Chennai. Two Japanese automobile companies (one four-wheeler maker and one two-wheeler maker) operating in India announced the change on Tuesday. While four wheeler maker Isuzu Motors Ltd has selected Indian-origin Rajesh Mittal as the Chairman of Isuzu Motors India, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd announced the appointment of Kenichi Umeda as its new Managing Director.
According to Isuzu Motors India, Mittal is the first person of Indian origin to head the Indian operations.
He will succeed Wataru Nakano, who will now head Isuzu Vietnam operations.
Mittal had joined the top management team in February 2022 as chairman of Isuzu Engineering Business Center India (IEBCI) and vice-chairman of Isuzu Motors India (IMI).
Since then, he has focused on strengthening the business and driving forward major projects while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Umeda will succeed Satoshi Uchida at Suzuki Motorcycle India, who has completed his tenure as the Managing Director of the company.
Umeda will be responsible for driving and strengthening Suzuki Motorcycle India’s position in the Indian and overseas markets.(IANS)
