Today’s latest bikes are getting fuel injection system to pump fuel into the engine. The fuel injection system is more advanced and also saves fuel. However, the older bikes used to come with a carburetor system, the job of which is to send a mixture of petrol and air to the engine. Carburetor bikes often face starting problems, but if a choke is installed on the bike, the engine starts easily.

In such a situation, many people forget to keep the choke knob on and the bike starts consuming more fuel. But why does the bike consume more fuel when the choke is on? Actually, the job of choke is to turn on the ignition by sending more fuel to the engine in case the bike won’t start. As soon as the choke button is pressed, the supply of air to the carburetor stops and more fuel starts flowing into the engine. Due to this, the engine gets enough fuel for ignition and the bike starts. But as soon as the bike starts, the choke should be closed immediately, otherwise more fuel will go into the engine and the mileage of the bike will decrease.
