According to a report in Times of India, a 27-year-old man living in Panvel, Mumbai was looking for investment plans on the popular messaging application Telegram. In the greed of getting huge return on investment, he got trapped in the clutches of fraudsters and lost lakhs of rupees.

This is how fraud happened
According to the information, the scammers got the victim to register her personal information in a website in the greed of getting a huge return on investment. It is said that the victim had opened his account by giving information to the scammers on Telegram. After this he was asked to invest an amount of Rs 1,000 and instead a balance of Rs 1,620 was shown in his Telegram account. This made the victim believe that he had earned full Rs 620 on the investment.

In this greed, the victim got an amount of Rs 1 lakh deposited in that fake bank account, after which a balance of Rs 2.20 lakh started appearing in his Telegram account. However, when he tried to transfer the money back to his bank account, he could not do so. After this he realized that he had been cheated.

Panvel Police has registered an FIR in this matter. Many such cases have come to the fore in the last few months, where people were duped of lakhs of rupees in the name of giving huge returns on online investments. Police say that people are becoming victims of fraud in the greed of earning more money in less time.
