It has been told in the report that the woman met a person named Advik Chopra on the dating application Tinder. He told her that he is working as a medical practitioner in London, UK. The woman said that within a month of contacting her, she fell in love with her Tinder match and the woman also started trusting him.

Eventually, Chopra told the woman that he was coming to Bengaluru to meet her. However, on May 17, the woman received a call from an unknown number. The caller claimed that he was an officer in the Airport Authority of India and that Chopra had been caught with unaccounted cash. The man asked the woman to transfer Rs 68,500 to send Chopra to Bangalore. He also got Rs 1.8 lakh as fee and additional Rs 2.06 lakh as processing charge transferred from the woman.

Since the woman wanted her Tinder boyfriend to fly to Bengaluru to meet her, she blindly trusted the man calling and transferred the money. When the man demanded an additional Rs 6 lakh, the woman sensed something was wrong and started making inquiries over the phone.

As soon as the woman started asking questions, the call was suddenly disconnected from the other end. After this, the boyfriend neither made any call nor received the phone. The boyfriend has also deleted his Tinder profile. Investigation revealed that the scammer had hatched a deep conspiracy to cheat the money. The so called officer of Airport Authority was also a scammer who was supporting her Tinder boyfriend in all this. At present, the police have formed a team to investigate the matter in depth.
