New Delhi. Meta said it removed over 27.7 million pieces of content from Facebook and over 5.4 million pieces of content from Instagram in India in April. Facebook received 8,470 reports through the Indian complaints mechanism between April 1-30, and said it provided tools to users to resolve their issues in 2,225 cases. In compliance with the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics) 2021, Meta said in its monthly report that these include pre-established channels to report content for specific violations, self-healing flows, where they can download their data Can do, ways to resolve account hacked issues etc.

Of the other 6,245 reports that required special review, we reviewed the content in accordance with our policies and took action on a total of 1,244 reports, Meta said. The remaining 5,001 reports were reviewed but may not have been acted upon.

On Instagram, the company received 9,676 reports through the Indian complaint system.

Of these, in 3,591 cases, we provided tools to users to resolve their issues.

Of the other 6,085 reports that required specific review, META reviewed the content and took action on 1,664 reports.

The remaining 4,421 reports were reviewed on Instagram, but may not have been acted upon.

Under the new IT Rules 2021, large digital and social media platforms with more than 5 million users will have to publish monthly compliance reports.

As Meta said, we measure the number of pieces of content (such as posts, photos, videos or comments) we take action for going against our standards. Taking action could include removing a piece of content or covering a photo or video from Facebook or Instagram.(IANS)
