Ola Electric Refund: Ola Electric Money Refund Reason Charger Additional Accessories

Ola Electric is about to return Rs 130 crore to its 1 lakh customers and the company has taken the decision. The reason for this is that the company sells chargers additionally to customers who buy Ola electric scooters and the government was probing this.

The Ministry of Heavy Industry was probing whether Ola was charging customers extra. Now Ola Electric has written a letter to ARAI informing that it is going to refund the money to customers who bought chargers as accessories.

In such a situation, ARAI is not going to take any action on Ola Electric. Ola Electric is going to refund the money to the customers who bought the electric scooter from the start of its sales in 2019 till March 30, 2023, and the total amount is around Rs 130 crore.

Whereas the charger was being sold separately as an accessory. On this, the government says that it is not right to do so. Because of this, the government wants Ola and Ather to return the money taken from the customers. Ola has agreed to refund the money.

Under the FAME-2 scheme, the government provides subsidy to electric two-wheeler manufacturers and buyers and Rs 10,000 crore has been allotted for this. But to take advantage of this subsidy, the companies used to sell the necessary equipment separately along with the scooter.

It is worth noting that Ola Electric recently reduced the price of its S1 Pro electric scooter from Rs 1.39 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh, including charger and software. Earlier it had to be bought separately.

After refunding the money, Ola Electric can also submit a statement to ARAI that the company has refunded the money. It is reported that the government has stopped the subsidy for Ola Electric and the subsidy will be released only after the investigation is completed.

Currently Ola Electric is selling its electric scooters with subsidy. There has been no drop in the sales of Ola Electric. The company has sold 30,000 electric scooters in April 2023 and claims a 40% market share.
