Also, you will not have to worry about self-driven motorcycles and cabs available on rent there. Goa CM Pramod Sawant made a big announcement on Wednesday, saying that from January 2024, all tourist vehicles on rent in the entire state will be electric. These vehicles also include motorcycles and cabs. According to the CM, the Goa government has proposed major reforms to promote EVs.

Sawant said this while addressing a program organized by NITI Aayog on the sidelines of the ongoing 4th Energy Transition Working Group meeting under India’s G20 chairmanship in Panaji. India’s G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant also participated in this program. Sawant said that Goa ranks fourth in the list of electric vehicles (EVs) purchased by states.

The CM said that from January next year, all new tourist vehicles, cabs and motorcycles on rent will compulsorily be electric. Along with this, from January 2024, new vehicles purchased by the government will also compulsorily be electric. The Chief Minister said that the per capita vehicle ownership in Goa is 4.5 times the national average.

What will be the benefit to the tourist
Tourists going to Goa will get the biggest benefit from this. Earlier, tourists had to fill petrol or diesel in their own car, bike or scooter on rent. In such a situation, it used to cost him a lot to visit Goa. But now due to being electric, vehicles can be easily charged at hotel or any other place’s charging station and the cost will be very less. However, no information has been given regarding what the Goa government is going to do for the infrastructure of the charging station for this. It is believed that soon the government will make a big announcement regarding this and will also start work and keeping in view the convenience of tourists, charging stations will also be set up like petrol pumps. With this, tourists coming to Goa will be able to easily charge their hired vehicles.
