Now most companies are focusing on electric vehicles. In such a situation, Harley-Davidson, popular in the cruiser bike segment, is planning to make a fully electric bike in place of the petrol bike.

The company’s CEO, Jochen Zeitz, has revealed that Harley-Davidson has started preparing for an all-electric future, but it will take time. This step of this 120 year old brand is a logical step.

Jochen Zeitz further added, “If you look at Harley-Davidson’s past 120 years of history, you will find that the company has always been on the move with innovation, never standing still. Just as the founder intended Vikas did at that time, something that needs to be re-invented and innovated, which is clearly something that we as a company brand need to do.

He added, “What we’re doing is celebrating our past, but at the same time developing the brand. It’s a natural evolution that needs to happen.” Even though Harley-Davidson has started producing electric motorcycles, he believes that the company will not give up on petrol vehicles in the future.

The first electric motorcycle the company launched in 2018 was the Livewire. In addition, Harley-Davidson has also unveiled its first electric bicycle in 2020, inspired by the brand’s first motorcycle since 1903.

The new business, named ‘Serial 1 Cycle Company’, has started as a project within the motorcycle maker’s product development centre.

Livewire, the electric vehicle arm of Harley-Davidson, introduced the new S2 Del Mar LE electric motorcycle in the US in May last year. Its price is $ 17,699 (about Rs 13.67 lakh). However, as of now, Harley-Davidson has no plans to launch the S2 Del Mar in India. The Del Mar’s battery range in the city is up to 100 miles or 160 km.
