Daam Malware: Android users need to be careful, because a virus has been detected that is stealing your phone’s call records, contact information, phone history and camera data. The National Cyber Security Agency has issued an advisory giving information about this virus, which is being named ‘Daam’. CERT-In has said that this dangerous virus also escapes from the antivirus program, and attacks the target device with ransomware.
The agency says that when an app is downloaded from an unknown source, the Android botnet gets circulated. According to the advisory, ‘After penetrating the device, the malware tries to bypass the device’s security checks and after a successful attempt, it tries to steal sensitive data. In this, he steals permissions like history and bookmarks, eliminating background processing.

The ‘Daam’ virus can also hack phone call recording, contacts, camera, change device password, take screenshots, steal SMS, download and upload files and more.
The agency advised to be safe
The agency has advised to avoid clicking on ‘unauthorised websites’, and also said that ‘anti-virus’ and ‘anti-spyware’ software should not be downloaded. Also, it has been asked to be careful about phone calls or messages coming from any ‘suspicious number’.

Users are advised to check the complete domain of the website they are visiting ie open. If there is a short URL here, then hover your cursor over it or use a URL checker, in which the user will see the full URL after entering a short URL.
