New Delhi. While using an electronic device, there is always tension regarding its charging. The battery can get drained anytime while on the way. Sometimes while going out somewhere, we see that the battery of mobile, laptop, smartwatch or electric car is discharged, and it may take hours to charge. But very soon this worry of yours can end. This is because soon this time is going to change in minutes instead of hours, and researchers are not saying this.
Actually, IIT Gandhi and Japan Advance Institute of Science & Technology together have shown a miracle. IIT Gandhinagar has researched and discovered a new anode material, which charges lithium ion batteries in minutes.

The 2D anode material is made using nano sheets derived from titanium diboride. It is a multi-stacked sandwich-like material, in which metal atoms are present between layers of boron. On this, CNBC Awaaz correspondent Ketan Joshi had a special conversation with the head of the research team and learned how it happened.

IIT Gandhinagar Professor Kabir D’Souza told that currently the anode material of lithium ion battery is made from graphite. There are no holes on the graphite layer, due to which it takes time to charge. The material used to charge a lithium battery is called anode in common language. But the anode material is made from diboride, which is capable of charging the battery within minutes.

With this new technology, every device can be charged in a few minutes, where it takes hours. From mobile to laptop, smart watch and electric car, now it will take less time for charging.
Expect new technology to come soon in India
Professor Kabir said that ‘we have sent a proposal to some battery manufacturing companies for the manufacture of batteries. In future such batteries will be made in India which will be able to be charged in minutes. Not only will these indigenous batteries be used in India, but they can also be manufactured in other countries.
