Hyundai Ioniq 5 Electric SUV Getting Strong Demand, More than 500 Units Sold

South Korean automobile company Hyundai Motor is getting good response for the Ioniq 5 electric SUV in India. The company has delivered its 500 units. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was launched at this year’s Auto Expo. It is being assembled in the country itself.

Its price was Rs 44.95 lakh for the initial 500 customers. The company said that all 500 units allotted for this year have been sold. The company had told at its launch that it has allocated 500 units of the Ioniq 5 this year for the country’s marque. Hyundai Unsoo Kim, Managing Director and CEO of Ioniq’s India unit said, “We started this year with the launch of Ioniq 5. It has received a good response in the country. We have sold more than 500 units.”

Its technical specifications are almost similar to the Kia EV6. It measures 4,635 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,625 mm in height. This EV has been made available in three colors – Gravity Gold Matt, Optic White and Midnight Black Pearl. The Ioniq 5 EV comes with ultra-fast charging and can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. It has a multi-charging system with 400V and 800V to reduce the wait at charging stations. The Ioniq 5 sports a 12.3-inch touchscreen main display and a 12.3-inch driver’s display with wireless phone charging. This EV competes with Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40. The powertrain of this electric car can generate power of 301bhp. Its top speed is 185 kmph.

Hyundai is preparing to increase its share in the Electric Vehicles (EV) market. For this, the company will invest billions of dollars. Hyundai and its subsidiary Kia Corp are among the 10 largest automobile companies in terms of sales. Hyundai in its biggest market America EV Planning to increase production. By 2030, the share of EVs in the company’s production in the US will increase to about 75 percent, which is only 0.7 percent now. The company has told that it has a target of increasing sales in this segment to 20 lakh units by 2030.
