Apple blocks millions of fraudulent accounts

New Delhi. The Apple App Store is the only destination for the company’s users to download apps. One good thing about this is that Apple has kept its security intact till now. Because, the company checks the apps properly and also prevents sideloading. Now Apple has currently claimed that the App Store rejected 1.7 million submissions during 2022. This helped prevent fraudulent transactions amounting to approximately $2 billion.
Apple stopped 4,28,000 developer accounts and 282 million customer accounts in 2022 that were linked to fraud. Also, Apple blocked 198 million fraudulent accounts even before they were fully created.
Also saved users from fake apps
Apple saved its users during this period from about 57,000 untrusted apps that were present on illegal stores and did not have built-in privacy and security protection like the App Store. Apple has informed that these unauthorized marketplaces distribute dangerous software, which appear to be popular apps. Even the developers are not aware of them.

Regarding app submission, the company claims that it does many types of safety checks before making any app available in the App Store. Apple said that in the development stage, Xcode systematically inspects the apps and certifies that the apps are using authorized technologies only. Also, it is seen whether the app meets the minimum requirements for the App Store or not.
In 2022, the App Store prevented nearly 3.9 million stolen credit cards from being used for fraudulent purchases, and prevented 714,000 accounts from making further transactions. In this way, the company prevented a total of $ 2.09 billion of fraud transactions on the App Store in 2022.
