San Francisco. Apple’s upcoming Augmented Reality (AR) Mixed Reality (MR) headset will reportedly enter mass production in October this year. While we expect the AR/VR headset to be unveiled next week, our supply chain investigation suggests that mass production could begin in October, Eric Wooding, an Apple analyst at Morgan Stanley, said in a research note obtained by MacRumors. Won’t start until 2023. General availability is likely before the December holidays.

The tech giant is still speculated to introduce the headset and provide tools for developers to build apps for it at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next week.

According to Woodring, the iPhone maker’s supply chain is preparing to assemble only 300,000 to 500,000 headsets this year.

In addition, he mentioned that the upcoming MR headset will have a starting price of around $3,000, according to the report, and that he expects the gross margin to initially be close to break-even.
