New ‘guerrilla’ malware is spreading rapidly in Android devices, India is in the list of top 10, you should avoid this

It has been learned from a recent report that a cybercrime organization named Lemon Group has allegedly installed malware named Guerilla in about 8.9 million Android devices worldwide. This malware has affected Android devices like smartwatches, smartphones, TVs and TV boxes.

Japan’s multinational cyber security company Trend Micro has claimed in its latest report that malware has put Android users’ accounts and personal data at risk. It has been told in the report that scammers are using pre-installed malware in the device to perform many dangerous activities. Such as loading additional payload, extracting one-time password from SMS, setting reverse proxy from infected device and hijacking WhatsApp sessions.

In a recent blog, the company has further stated that infected devices are spreading across the globe. In these scammers have control over devices in more than 180 countries. The top 10 countries most affected by malware are the US, Mexico, Indonesia, Thailand, Russia, South Africa, India, Angola, Philippines and Argentina. At present, information has not been received about how Lemon Group is infecting the devices. Malware is usually found pre-installed in some devices.

• Usually malware is spread through fake apps. In this case, the app should be downloaded from an unknown source. Also, the review should be read while downloading the app from Google Play Store.
