Ola Electric tests S1 Air Electric Scooter for more than 5 lakh km before launch, range, price

Ola Electric, one of the big electric two-wheeler companies, is preparing to launch its lowest priced electric scooter S1 Air this month. The company has earlier tested the S1 Air for more than five lakh kilometers. This electric scooter will have a hub motor instead of the belt drive used in the S1 and S1 Pro.

Ola Electric has shared a post on Twitter claiming to have tested more than five lakh kilometers of this soon-to-be-launched electric scooter. The company had announced to bring the S1 Air with a 2.7 kW motor but it has been upgraded to 4.5 kW. A 3 kWh battery will be given in it. Ola Electric Has given information about the range of this electric scooter to be 125 kilometers in a single charge. However, the time taken for its charging has not been told. It will have three riding modes – Eco, Normal and Sports. Its top speed will be 85 kmph. The company has reduced its price by reducing some features in S1 Air. However, it looks very similar to the S1 and S1 Pro.

The price of S1 Air can be from Rs 84,999 to around Rs 1,09,000 (ex-showroom). It will be made available in five dual tone colors – Coral Glam, Neo Mint, Porcelain White, Jet Black and Liquid Silver. Ola Electric opened its first experience center in Pune last year. The company aims to increase the number of experience centers to 1,000 in the next few months. Ola Electric’s D2C sales and service model includes delivery and servicing of electric scooters. Although, company gets the bulk of its sales through its website and app. Ola Electric claims to have around 40 percent market share in the electric scooter market.

The company is planning to list on the stock market by the end of this year. For this, Goldman Sachs and Kotak Bank have been appointed as investment bankers. Investors such as Japan’s SoftBank Group and Tiger Global Investments have stake in Ola Electric. However, the company has not decided how much money it will raise through Initial Public Offering (IPO).
