Oppo Find X6 Pro – Full Review

Oppo Find X6 Pro is one of the most powerful smartphones on the market, but it’s also one of hardest to purchase. The new flagship Find features an elegant design, a premium OLED display, the fastest chip available, 100W of fast charging and three premium 50MP cameras equipped with large sensors and Hasselblad color calibration. It’s only in China.

Oppo Find X6 Pro, at least by its specifications, is a premium smartphone. The design of the phone combines Gorilla Glass Victus 2 with Gorilla Glass 5 and eco-leather. There is also a metal frame, and a special metal band around the camera. The whole phone is IP68-rated to resist dust and water.

The 6.82-inch OLED display uses a panel with LTPO3 1440p resolution, 120Hz dynamic refresh rate and 10-bit color depth. It also supports Dolby vision. The screen can reach a maximum brightness of 1,500 nits and a peak of 2,500 nits. This latest generation LTPO is expected to allow for flexible rate adaptability and reduce battery strain.

The Find X6 Pro comes with the latest Snapdragon SoC (Gen 2), as well as a large amount of RAM and UFS 4.0 Storage. The phone comes with a big 5,000mAh battery, and fast wireless and wired charging (100W and 50W).

The Find X6 Pro’s cameras are one of the most interesting features on a smartphone today. Three 50MP cameras are located on its back, including a 1.0 inch primary camera that is one of the few available on the market. Ultrawide and telephoto cameras use large 1/1.56 inch sensors. Oppo claims that its periscope lens is the most stable on the market.

Let’s take a quick look at the specifications and get to work.

At a glance, Oppo’s Find X6 Pro specifications:
Body : 164.8×76.2×9.1mm 216g. Glass front or back (Gorilla glass Victus 2, Gorilla glass 5) with aluminum frame.
Memory 256GB with 12GB RAM. 256GB with 16GB RAM. 512GB with 16GB RAM. UFS 4.0.
Operating System/Software: Android 13. ColorOS 13.1.
Rear Camera: Wide angle: f/1.8 at 23mm with 1.0″ type, 1.6um. Multi-direction PDAF and Laser AF. OIS. Telephoto f/2.6 at 65mm with 1.0um. 2.8x optical Zoom. Multi-direction PDAF. OIS. Ultra-wide angle f/2.2 15mm @ 110@. 1.0um.
Front camera: 32 MP, f/2.4, 21mm (wide), 1/2.74″, 0.8um, PDAF.
Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); Infrared port; stereo speakers.
The selfie camera is the only thing not up to par. A 32MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording seems out of place.

Unboxing Oppo Find X6 pro
The Find X6 Pro is shipped in a black box that contains a USB-A to C 10A cable and a 100W SuperVOOC Charger.

That’s not it. This bundle includes a case with the same split design as the back of the phone – the top part is gray and the bottom part is brown eco-leather. Although the top of the case is plastic, unlike that on the phone which is glass, we appreciate this extra step and are happy to see many users get to maintain their iconic design when using a case.

The Black and Green models with all-glass rear panel also come in matching black/green cases with the matt finish.

Design, build quality and handling
Oppo’s Find series never fails to impress us with its design. Sometimes it is even innovative. The Find X6 Pro delivered on our expectations of a unique, luxurious design.

From the very first Find phones onwards, we have been treated to easily recognizable shells. Oppo’s design evolved as the Find X series and Find N Series were introduced. The first Find X had a rear camera that popped out, followed by the ceramic or leather Find X2, and the seamless modern back of the Find X5.

The Find X6 is a new design that brings back some of the original shapes. It has a unique shape, and it pays homage to traditional SLR cameras.

Oppo Find X6 Pro is a premium smartphone with a high-end build. It features high-end materials like aluminum, glass and eco-leather. The classic camera design gives it a premium feel and touch that many users are looking for in a top-tier phone, particularly one with a camera.

Oppo Find X6 Pro comes in two different versions – all glass or glass with eco leather. This Brown model has a back panel that is interesting. It transitions from matte Gorilla 5 to eco leather. This is the only model with a back split, and it’s a great match for the camera island split.

Also available are Black and Green models, with Gorilla Glass 5, backs that do not have this split. Oppo claims that the Black model’s glass back has a sandblasted finish, while the Green version is smoother but still matte.

Display

Oppo refers to the camera housing as having an Orange Dot design. The large round island protrudes out from the back and is surrounded by a bezel made of aluminum. The metal ring is a replica of the grip for a SLR lens. At the bottom, the orange dot represents the alignment point if it were a real SLR.

The island is divided into two sections – one part, which is glossy, houses the primary camera and ultrawide camera, along with the color spectrum and laser-assistance sensors, an LED flash, a microphone and the Hasselblad Logo. The bottom part has a texture similar to a gramophone, and is home to the Zoom camera.

The panel is slightly curved. Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the screen, and we have already discussed the back panels. A matte-finish aluminum frame is sandwiched between the two panels.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro has an IP68 rating for dust and moisture resistance. However, we’re not sure what the eco-leather will look like after prolonged exposure to water.

It’s one of the best screens available today. The 6.82-inch OLED panel is the largest part of the screen. It has a high-resolution and refresh rate. It supports Dolby vision and its peak brightness reportedly is 2,500 nits.

The 32MP front-facing camera has a small, but not ugly cutout. The entire device is protected by slightly curved Gorilla glass Victus 2.

Just before the frame, there is a tiny outlet that can be seen above the screen. It is also an earpiece. This is the location of one stereo speaker. Due to its dual function, you’ll also find another sound outlet on the top of your phone. This is done in order to create symmetry with the speaker located at the bottom.

Behind the display is an optical fingerprint reader. We are very happy with the speed and accuracy of this device.

The back is a real show-stopper, anyone can spot the Find X6 Pro even in a crowd. This large camera island makes the phone almost unshakeable when placed on a flat surface, with or without a protective case.

The metal frame has a thinner edge on the left and right side, as well as a slight curve. The matt finish is a bit grippy.

On the left, there are two volume button and the right side , there is only one power/lock button.

The bottom and top parts of the frame have a thicker, flatter profile. The Find X6 Pro is able to stand up on its own, if you so desire.

On the bottom you can see a dual-SIM tray and a USB-C connector flanked by microphones. Also, there is a grille for the second speaker.

The Find X6 Pro is topped with a second speaker, an IR blaster, and a microphone.

Oppo Find X6 Pro is 164.8 x 75.2 x 9.1 mm and weighs 216 g, which is on par with other flagships. The eco-leather model is slightly thicker, at 9.5mm. It weighs 218g.

Oppo Find X6 Pro Brown, or at least the model we tested, is one the few flagship phones on the market that offers a good grip. The phone was comfortable to use for most of our photos and videos, even without the original case. The matte finish and leather back help with gripping, and the slightly curved shape makes it feel lighter and more comfortable.

We liked that the phone has a large display, but is not oversized. The matching premium cases Oppo includes in the retail package are also very nice. They don’t cover up the design but rather act as an extension.

Oppo Find X6 Pro is one of the best-built smartphones we’ve seen in recent times. We give it a perfect mark for its craftsmanship.

The competition
Oppo Find X6 Pro has been hailed as one of this year’s best smartphones.
The only caveat is its availability. Oppo had no plans at the time this article was written to release the device outside of China.

But there is good news. The Find X6 Pro can be purchased at various retailers for $930/EUR930, before taxes and shipping. This is a very attractive price, or even competitive if that’s what you want to call it. While the phone doesn’t come with Google Play Store it does have the Google Mobile Services built-in. The Play Store can be installed by simply tapping on the Oppo App Store. You can also uninstall most Chinese bloatware.

When comparing cameraphones, the Xiaomi 13 Pro comes to mind. The design, battery, speakers and screen are all equally high-end, but the triple 50MP camera on this phone is slightly different. The main camera matches the Find X6 Pro but the ultrawide and zoom cameras have smaller sensors. The zoom camera, on the other hand has a longer reach and offers telemacro as it can focus as close as 10cm. In Europe, the Xiaomi 13 Pro offers a better option as it has an international ROM. You can also get local service and support. If we’re being honest, the Oppo camera does seem more attractive than Xiaomi’s.

The vivo X90 Pro matches many of the Find X6 Pro specifications. The design was great, and we loved the camera, particularly the 1″ primary sensor, which produces color accurate photos. It’s available in Europe, China and other markets. So it is more international than Oppo. The zoom is 2x shorter, so it’s up to you which configuration you prefer.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has two telephoto lenses – 10x and 3x – which are ideal for zooming. The S23 Ultra is the ultimate cameraphone with its best OLED, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 overclocked chipset and S-Pen.

Our verdict
Oppo Find X6 Pro, even if only available in China for the time being, is undoubtedly one of the most impressive smartphones currently on the market. The flagship features a unique design with a grip that is comfortable and a charm all its own. It’s also water-resistant. It has a bright QHD screen with a dynamic 120Hz refresh and Dolby Vision. This is genuinely impressive hardware.

Oppo’s latest flagship is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, so we can’t ask for anything more. The GPU stability might have been a bit better, but there are few who excel in this area. The high frame rate gaming on BBK phones is not possible – at the very least, not for all titles. It may be only applicable to certain titles that have been developed in partnership with Oppo.

The IR blaster and stereo speakers are also appreciated. We are also pleased with the battery life of the Find X6 Pro and its fast charging speed.

The cameras on the Oppo Find X6 Pro are truly outstanding. The triple 50MP rear camera kit offers excellent photo and video quality. Large sensors provide sharp detail, and the processing is superb.

We are not impressed with the selfie camera’s hardware. The 32MP Quad-Bayer could have been replaced by a 12MP sensor. However, we love the autofocus system and the great overall photo quality. Oppo could have added 4K video recording as vivo has done on the X90 Pro+.

It would be difficult to convince someone to purchase a gray imported car due to its lack of local support. This includes warranty servicing, spares parts, first-party accessories and so on.

The great camera and top-notch experience will still be enough for many people to take this risk. If you are in China, then the Oppo Find X6 Pro would be the best smartphone to buy at the moment.

The Oppo Find X6 Pro, in short, is one of best smartphones that came out during the first half year. Its hardware ticks every box – a tech geek’s dream. We hope Oppo reconsiders its decision and launches the Find X6 Pro in other countries.

Pros

Unique premium design, glass or leather, IP68-rated.
Fast charging and long lasting battery.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 delivers great performance.
All rear cameras offer the highest quality photos and videos.
Outstanding macro photos.
Great selfies, autofocus available.

Gray-importing the Find X6 Pro, which is only available in China would give you a phone that has Chinese bloatware with limited or no support.
There is no high-framerate support for games outside of specific whitelisted titles.
Stabilization reduces video quality.
It would have been nice to have a longer optical zoom.
