New Delhi. On one hand, car and two wheeler manufacturing companies are constantly launching new models. At the same time, the sale of passenger vehicle category fell in the month of April. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association, a decrease of 1 percent has been recorded in the cell figure in April as compared to 2022. Although seeing the figure of 1 percent may seem small to you, but seeing the number, it is very high.

According to FADA President Manish Raj Singhania, 2,86,539 units were sold in April 2022. However, this sale reduced to 2,82,674 units in April 2023. This has not happened only with cars. Rather, a significant decline has also been registered in the sale of two wheelers. According to the information, a decline of 7 percent was recorded in the number of two wheeler registrations. This figure was 12,29,911 units in April 2023, while in April 2022 it was 13,26,773 units.

However, growth was seen in the commercial sector. Talking about three-wheelers, there was an increase of 57 percent in their sales. In April 2022, 45,114 were sold. And in April 2023, it increased to 70,928 units. On the other hand, the registration of commercial vehicles showed an increase of 2 percent. According to the information, last month it was 85,587 units which was 83,987 units in April 2022.

Why did the cell fall
According to Singhania, the prices of cars were low till March and on top of that companies also gave heavy discounts to clear the old stock. However, after the implementation of the new emission norms (BS6 phase 2) from April 1, the prices of passenger vehicles increased significantly. This was a major reason due to which the sales of cars and two wheelers registered a decline.

Along with this, limited vehicle supply was also a reason and due to unseasonal rains, there was a lot of impact on the market activities. However, now in view of the launch of many new vehicles in May, it is expected that the automobile market will once again pick up pace.
