Tata Group Set To Become First Indian iPhone Maker, Deal Of Wistron Factory Near Completion

Tata Group, associated with businesses ranging from automobiles to software, may soon buy Apple’s supplier Wistron’s factory assembling the iPhone. After this deal, this will be the first time that an Indian company will make iPhone. The value of this deal can be more than $ 600 million.

In Bloomberg’s report, sources with information about this deal have been told that the two sides have been in talks for almost a year. There are more than 10,000 workers in this factory. It also includes the assembly of the iPhone 14 launched last year. This Wistron factory is in Karnataka. company Apple plans to ship iPhones worth about $1.8 billion from this factory in the current financial year to avail incentives from the state government. Apart from this, there is also a target to triple the number of workers in this factory by the next year.

The Tata group can meet these goals after Wistron exits the iPhone business in the country. Spokespersons of Tata Group, Wistron and Apple refused to provide any information in this regard. Apple plans to increase its production outside China. For this, the company is seeing a possibility in India. Wistron has exported iPhones worth about $500 million from the country in the first three months of the current financial year. Apple Other major suppliers include Foxconn and Pegatron. To increase manufacturing in the country, many foreign companies are looking for the possibility of setting up their factories due to the plan of giving financial incentives from the Central Government.
