For this, people keep digital payments apps like PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm in their phones. Many times people make the mistake of sending money to an unknown number using the app. In such a situation, we are going to tell here what you will have to do if this ever happens to you.

If you ever accidentally transfer money to someone else’s account while paying with these apps, then you can take some measures. The first thing you can do is that you can talk on the customer care number of companies like PhonePe, GPay and Paytm. These are toll free numbers. You can register your complaint in them and put a request for refund.

  • The number for GPay is 1800-419-0157.
    The number for PhonePe is 080-68727374.
    The number for Paytm is 0120-4456-456.

Visit NPCI website
The second solution is that you have to visit the website of NPCI. Here you will see the option of UPI Complaint after clicking on the Consumer tab. After clicking on it, you will reach the Dispute Redressal Mechanism. Here you have to select Merchant or Person in Nature Of Transaction inside the Complaint.

Then going to Select Issue Type, Incorrectly transferred to another account has to be selected. After this, all the details related to payment will have to be filled here. Such as bank, transaction ID and phone number etc. After this the button of Submit has to be clicked.

Report directly to RBI
If you do not get your money from the measures mentioned above, then you can directly complain to the Reserve Bank of India. For this, you have to go to Google and write Banking Ombudsman. Then https://bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in will have to go to this site.

Then here you will see COMPLAINTS written on the top. On clicking on it, you will see the option of file a complaints on the right side. From here you will be able to do further process.
