There is also a fierce competition in this round. The increasing craze among customers towards SUVs affected this segment as well and this is where Maruti Suzuki lagged behind.
In this segment, a domestic company Tata won. Tata has launched its smallest car brand targeting first time car buyers. SUV Punch (Tata Punch) was launched in October 2021. The car caught fire as soon as it was launched. In a very short span of time, it became one of the most successful cars in the Indian car market so far. Due to its stunning looks, safety features and sturdiness, it started ruling the hearts of the customers. Currently, the ex-showroom price of this punch with 1200cc engine capacity is between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9.52 lakh. The popularity of this car can be gauged from the fact that it crossed the 2,000,00 units mark in less than 18 months.
Maruti made SUV on Alto’s engine
Disturbed by the success of Punch, Maruti also insisted on entering this segment. It launched a new entry level 1000cc engine from the Alto K10. SUV launched. name of this suv Fronx Is. It was launched two months ago on 24 April 2023. According to Maruti’s website, it has been launched with two engine capacities of 1.0 liters and 1.2 liters. This is a hybrid car. Even in terms of looks, features and performance, experts are calling it a great vehicle. But, the concern of the customers remains its price. At present, the ex-showroom price of this car, built on the platform of Maruti’s most popular car Baleno, starts from Rs 7.47 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.14 lakh. i.e. this car Tata Punch Compared to Rs. 1.5 lakh, it is costlier. This is not being digested by the customers. Not only this, when it has the engine of Alto K10, then the company has followed such a special feature and safety standard, so that its price has almost doubled from Alto K10. It plays in the same price band as Tata Punch. His car starts from six lakhs and goes up to 10.10 lakhs. It has a 1200cc engine. Auto experts are also calling it a better vehicle.
